TRASQUERA is a village of about 190 inhabitants in the province of Verbania-Cusio-Ossola, on the border with Switzerland. Trasquera also includes Iselle, near the southern portal of the Simplon Tunnel. Trasquera is located on a beautiful sunny terrace 1,100 meters above sea level. The municipality plays a key role in the safety of the Simplon road, which passes through a narrow valley here. Since 1970, the municipality has been accessible via a steep access road.

The "Pro Trasquera" Foundation was established in 2024 by Alex Zbinden. It is based in Bern, organized under the Swiss Code of Obligations, and is tax-exempt. The foundation aims to strengthen community structures and reduce emigration.
